Timothy D. Gunnin, DDS, PC

Since the day Dr. Gunnin opened his doors for business, he has been providing his patients with the most advanced preventive, cosmetic, and restorative dental care available. Although his practice has grown over the years, he has never lost sight of the personal, individualized approach to dentistry that is his trademark. He strives to build a rapport with his patients and delights in being able to give them the smile they deserve.

Balancing experience, knowledge, and an exceptional chairside manner, Dr. Gunnin prides himself on providing truly gentle, state-of-the-art care for his patients. Whether you’re coming in for a routine cleaning or a complex restoration, you can feel confident knowing that he continually researches the latest methods and brings you only those that give you greater comfort and better results.

After graduating with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Tennessee School of Dentistry in Memphis, Dr. Gunnin received advanced training in dental implant treatment, planning and restoration, and laser dentistry. He's studied at the world-renowned Nash Institute for Dental Learning and completed the Esthetic Epitome Continuum on cosmetic dentistry. An active participant with some of the most prestigious organizations in his field, Dr. Gunnin's professional memberships include the American Dental Association, the World Clinical Laser Institute, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Tennessee Dental Association, the American Association of Seventh-Day Adventist Dentists, The American Orthodontic Society, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Our Team

April Peavler, Office Manager
April has worked in the dental/medical field for over 16 years and has been with Rogersville Family Dentistry for over four years as the office manager. When you visit our office, April will be one of the smiling faces that will greet you as you enter the door, and she will help get your dental visit off to a great start. April will coordinate financing, insurance, and scheduling. She always makes patients feel comfortable and confident with understanding treatment, insurance benefits, and billing questions. April is always gaining more knowledge of assisting patients with their dental needs by attending continuing education courses. Born and raised in Rogersville, April enjoys our home-town office atmosphere and has never met a stranger. After hours, April spends quality time with her family. April and her two girls enjoy spending time by the WATER, whether at the pool or on the beach.

Benecia Gunnin, Office Coordinator
Benecia was a dental assistant for 10 years before pursuing a career in nursing. She graduated from Memphis State University/Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, before working as a RN in the critical care and surgery unit. She served in this capacity for 20 years before moving to East Tennessee to join the Rogersville Family Dentistry team as office coordinator. She has been with Rogersville Family Dentistry for over nine years. Benecia’s hobbies include enjoying the great outdoors, camping, hiking, and spending time with her husband Bob and their two-year-old miniature schnauzer, Luc.

Carol Nicastro, Treatment Plan Coordinator
Carol is the newest addition to the Rogersville Family Dentistry team. Born in Kingsport, Tenessee, she recently relocated from Seminole, Florida, where she managed a dental office for 16 years. Carol has taken numerous administrative dental courses the most extensive being at LVI in Las Vegas. Being a people person, she has taken an interest in becoming a dental assistant. Carol’s hobbies include her grandchildren, cooking, and watching old movies.

Patti Bowling, Receptionist
Patti began her journey with Rogersville Family Dentistry as a patient over seven years ago. For the past three years, Patti’s warm smile and compassionate heart have been felt, whether she is warmly welcoming you to our office or confirming an upcoming appointment. She will caringly follow up with each patient after an extensive procedure. She is very blessed with two sons and two grandsons. Some of Patti’s favorite things in life are church, nature, scrapbooking, and laughter.

Missie McCoy, Registered Dental Assistant (RDA)
Missie is a certified dental assistant with three years of experience, including training in CEREC CAD/CAM crowns (a one appointment procedure) and nitrous oxide monitoring. Missie has worked at Rogersville Family Dentistry for over two years. Working on cosmetic cases is one of her favorite procedures. She also enjoys teaching patients about good oral health and what to expect with different procedures. While she is very professional in what she does, she also uses down-home language to explain things to her patients. Missie’s number one priority is always the patient. She is currently continuing her education to provide the patient with the most advanced care. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and family. She also enjoys hunting, fishing, and camping.

Pam Garretson, Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH)
Pam has been in the dental profession for 30 years. She was a dental assistant for 12 years, and she enjoyed working with and caring for patients so much, so she decided to further her education. Pam attended the East Tennessee State University where she received an associate’s degree for dental hygiene. She has worked with Rogersville Family Dentistry over eight years now. She feels truly blessed to be working in a highly-motivated and technologically-advanced office that offers paperless, digital imaging, CEREC crowns, and Zoom! Whitening. Pam feels she has learned more in these eight years than in all her other years of experience due to the motivation of this office and the educational courses she has attended. Pam has taken too many courses to count, most recently at the Nash Institute where she studied new standards in restorative and periodontal care, cosmetic, aesthetic dentistry, and scientific facts of genetics in periodontal treatment.

Pam has a great following of patients due to her outgoing, friendly, and caring personality. Each patient is special to her and like her own family. In her spare time Pam enjoys being a personal chef for her large family and spending time with her granddaughter, Olivia.

Susan Ryan, Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH)
Susan has worked in dentistry for over 16 years, and she has been a team member at Rogersville Family Dentistry for over two years. She earned her associate’s degree in dental hygiene and bachelor’s degree in health education from East Tennessee State University in 1993. Susan attended the Nash Institute for dental learning where she received a certificate of achievement in cosmetic and esthetic dentistry and personalized restorative and periodontal care. Susan is experienced with non-surgical periodontal therapy, micro-ultrasonics, implant maintenance, tooth whitening, and Oral DNA testing. Susan enjoys working in her hometown of Rogersville, Tennessee. In her off-time, Susan enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, camping in the Smokies, hiking, and snow skiing.

Charlotte Lowe, Registered Dental Assistant (RDA)
Charlotte is a registered dental assistant and has been working with Dr. Gunnin for the last eight wonderful years. She was born and raised in Rogersville where she attended Walters State Community College to receive her training as a dental assistant. Charlotte has taken several continued education courses, including attending the Hinman dental conference in Atlanta. Charlotte is knowledgeable in assisting the hygiene team with radiographs, treatment planning, patient education, and scheduling return appointments. She also assists Dr. Gunnin in routine dental procedures. Charlotte considers the most rewarding aspect of her job to be seeing the dramatic change that occurs in a person’s life due to their beautiful new smile. Charlotte has three beautiful boys and enjoys reading, shopping, and traveling.

Melissa Light, Registered Dental Assistant (RDA)
Melissa has been a registered dental assistant for 21 years and has been with Rogersville Family Dentistry for seven years. Melissa has taken several continuing education classes, which include, cosmetic dentistry with PAC-Live in San Francisco, California, basic and advanced courses in straight-wire orthodontics through the American Orthodontic Society in Atlanta, Georgia, advanced training coronal polishing and nitrous oxide monitoring, and she is proficient with the Zoom! Whitening system. She enjoys assisting in the cosmetic aspect of the practice. The most rewarding aspect of her work is seeing how new smiles can change lives. In her spare time, she enjoys spending quality time with her children.
